You want to date outside of your race? 3 of the things that you need to know…

Many people are still not on board
The world is still stuck in a time long before now. What's worse is that they will pretend to be okay with it even though they are not. For the duration of your relationship you will endure all kinds of passive aggressive attacks from random bigots, some of whom you know, many of whom you do not. For some people, this does not matter, for some they do. The key is to not be deceived about how the world will react. Be careful with friends and family, most of them will not be as okay with it as they seem.

Get ready for the stares
Yes, you will be looked at every time you are together in public. Many of those looks will reflect everything from mild distaste to downright horror, but often it's just simple shock. It's like seeing conjoined twins or somebody with four prosthetic limbs. Usually, these will come from older people, but depending on where you live, they can come from anybody.

Gay people are your friends
This is not to say that there are no gay racists, there most definitely are, but in the scheme of controversial relationships, homosexual relationships are about on par with interracial relationships as far as general acceptability goes. They know how it feels.
